The Pinawa Public Library is happy to announce that we will be holding storytime and a children’s summer reading program this year. However, due to Covid-19 restrictions, this summer’s program will be different than in previous years.
Storytime, consisting of jokes, stories, a snack and a craft, will be held every Wednesday at 1:30 in the afternoon, starting July 7th. We will meet just outside the front doors of the building before heading to the rock outcropping for jokes and stories. Masks are not required when participants have six feet of distance between those they have not come with.
Storytime is limited to ten participants maximum, so registering in advance is necessary. You can register by calling the library at (204)753-2496, or emailing us at email@pinawapubliclibrary.com. As storytime will be held outside, we will contact in advance those registered if Storytime must be cancelled due to weather. If you cannot make a day for which you are registered, we ask that you please contact us so we can make that spot available to another patron.
We want to encourage kids to read, but at this time the library is closed to the public. We are still running our pick-up/drop-off service at the back doors, and will be providing a drop-off box at the front for Storytime participants only during Storytime. You are also able to reserve books online that can be picked up at Storytime. Please reserve your books at least half an hour before the start of Storytime or we will not be able to fill your order in time for pick-up at Storytime.
Like last year, we will be providing prizes to children who complete a weekly reading challenge. Kids can pick up a booklet at story time or from the pick-up station at the doors at the back of the library near the arena during library hours, and fill in the bubbles on the booklet when they read for twenty minutes. When the kids have filled in all five bubbles, they can bring the booklet to storytime and pick up a prize from the prize table.
The summer reading program will be different this year, but it should also be lots of fun. We hope to see your kids and/or grandkids there this summer!
