One of our ongoing projects at the library is to sort through our book and DVD donations.

People often ask: “What happens to donations that we find to be duplicates or can’t use”?

We put them onto our sales carts or “nearly new” area to raise additional funds for the library. Sale books are sold by the bag and are an unbelievable bargain. You can also pick up some gems individually for couch cushion change!   Don’t forget to keep checking because we refresh these sections often and there is something for everyone.

We also bundle up past years magazine subscriptions and offer these by the bundle. Great for crafts, idea boards, recipes, and leaving at the cottage for a leisurely flip-through.

If we are unable to sell these in the library, we arrange to have them donated to a charity based thrift store. We are very thankful for your donations, and ensure that they will always end up with someone who appreciates them!

New (and “new to us”) books this week:

Crime:  Breakdown and Critical Mass  – numbers 15 and 16 in Sara Paretsky’s V.I. Warshawski series.   Moon Music by Faye Kellerman

Fiction: Under Gemini and Voices in Summer by Rosamunde Pilcher

Teen:    The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

The Fire by Night  by Teresa Messineo. This newly received donation was read and highly recommended by Carol Findlay. The Fire by Night is about two young nurses during World War II.  One ends up in a Japanese internment camp and the other ends up on the European front.  Carol describes it as a compelling read from a nurse’s point of view, definitely not a sanitized account of war.  Many thanks to the donor of this book!

New books are added often…visit us and browse the shelves!
