PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED JULY LONG WEEKEND (Saturday-Sunday-Monday) – HAPPY CANADA DAY!

 Hours - July & August

A giant thank you to all of the volunteers that help in the library throughout the year – we couldn’t run as smoothly as we do without you.  We hope to see you back in September!

Last week at the library we received a HUGE book donation which has been reviewed and sorted (thank you Audrey, for tackling this!).   These generously donated volumes have been divided between our shelves, our sale books, and some put aside for our sale table at the Pinawa town market in July.  There’s always something going on at the PPL!

Connie Hill has read and highly recommended Ian McEwan’s latest novel, Nutshell. “Readers unfamiliar with the prize-winning author might wonder about his choice of a fetus as narrator and witness to a murder plot.  But this imaginative take on “a fly on the wall” is perfect.  As the plot unfolds, we are enlightened and entertained.”

Are you looking for a biography?  The Return: Fathers, Sons and the Land in Between, by award-winning author Hisham Matar, is described as “a great read” by Genie Johnston.  When the author was 19 his father was kidnapped and held in a secret prison in Libya. 22 years later, after the fall of Qaddafi, when the prison cells empty there is no sign of his father.  Hisham returns to the land he thought he’d never go back to, in search of the truth behind his father’s disappearance.  The Return is the story of what he found there.

We love book reviews and recommendations so please keep them coming in.

The countdown to summer is on! Have you made your beach reading list?
