February 25 to March 3, 2018 is Freedom to Read week.  This is an annual event that is celebrated by libraries across Canada.  It encourages Canadians to think about their right to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Although it feels like it should be a given, freedom to read can never be taken for granted – schools and libraries are regularly asked to remove books and magazines from their shelves.  Go to www.freedomtoread.ca to learn more about this, and to see a list of 100 works that have been challenged in recent decades.

Since February 1, 2018 we have added 120 books to our NEW shelves!  I wonder if any have made the list?
