Reading is an excellent way to escape the stresses of everyday life, and to relax into a different world for a while. It is also a great way to access information to help make informed decisions and obtain knowledge for yourself or others.
Statistics show that 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health or addiction problem during their lifetime. Mental Health Awareness Week is May 7-13, 2018. The focus is on promoting mental well-being and encouraging help-seeking behaviours through awareness and educational resources. Libraries are an excellent resource and we have many books on a selection of related topics including stress, depression, anxiety, suicide, addiction, mood and eating disorders, life after trauma, and recovery.
Don’t forget to join us at the library on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Young Adult author, Vikki VanSickle will be talking about her new adventure book, The Winnowing.
