Library

“I’m practically immobile.  I’m so lucky.  I can spend my time reading.”

This patron, while packing up her new books for the week, was sparkling with happiness, enthusiasm and positivity.  After being rendered temporarily speechless and writing down her comment for future reference, a few thoughts came to mind.  First and foremost was that a large majority of us need a reminder to be grateful for what we have. Secondly, your attitude can have such a profound effect on how much you enjoy your life.  It also brought to mind how much libraries and books can mean to people.  Libraries are often a meeting place – to visit, knit, work on a puzzle, spend time with your kids and grand-kids, watch a slide-show or talk to an author.  Libraries can offer a cozy haven to read, relax, talk to an old friend or make a new one.  Books provide entertainment, knowledge and an escape to different worlds.  Libraries are so much more than just books!

Please join us at the Pinawa Public Library on Friday, June 22, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. to help our fearless leader, Marg Stokes, celebrate her retirement after 19 years as the Head Librarian.  Refreshments will be served.  Everyone welcome!
