The 2019 Booker Prize for fiction was announced on October 14, 2019. The prize was awarded jointly to Margaret Atwood for The Testaments and Bernadine Evaristo for Girl, Woman, Other. This was the first time that the prize was shared since 1992, despite a rule change barring joint winners. This has sparked a lot of discussion both for and against the decision.
