The Biblio File: Library News

The library is once again very humbled by the thoughtful generosity of Harley Davidson’s family for suggesting donations to the library, to honor his life and memory.

Harley and Fjola were among the very first residents of Pinawa, moving to town in 1963, and among the very first visitors to the library.   The Davidson family has always been surrounded by books – a quiet, comforting constant in an ever changing world.

Harley was a speed reader and often would finish a book in a day.  Fjola would arrive home with a weekly armful of books in the hope that there was one in the pile he hadn’t read!  Harley read for knowledge, for entertainment and most importantly, because it brought him joy.  Their love for reading was a gift passed down to Andrew and Susie who were allowed to take home as many books as they could carry.  The wonderful humans they are today is testament to their upbringing and there is no better legacy for a parent.

Not many libraries can say that they have had loyal patrons from opening day, through decades, and through generations.  To say that we are thankful and proud to be a part of this wonderful family’s daily lives for so long is a true understatement.

Our sincerest gratitude to everyone who donated to the library in Harley’s memory.
